ABOUT US

OUR MISSION

At the Mind-body and Well-being (MBWB) Lab, our mission is to address health disparities in racial and ethnic minority communities by conducting innovative research at the intersection of behavioral science, mind-body practices, physical activity interventions, and technology. Through rigorous investigation and testing, we aim to develop and implement evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of these communities, with a particular emphasis on maternal health.

We are committed to leveraging community-based and mixed-methods approaches to ensure the effectiveness and cultural relevance of our interventions. By collaborating closely with partners in the digital health industry, community organizations, and healthcare systems, we aim to reduce disparities in access to and utilization of mental and physical health resources.

Through our collaborative efforts, we strive to advance knowledge and contribute to the development of effective interventions that empower individuals and communities to achieve optimal health and well-being, promoting health equity for all.

Where are we located?

The MBWB Lab is one of two interdisciplinary research hubs within the Physical Activity Lab (ENS 151M) at San Diego State University. This lab space serves as a versatile environment where researchers and students can conduct interviews, host focus groups, store specialized equipment, convene meetings, and manage projects effectively. Whether conducting cutting-edge studies or engaging in collaborative brainstorming sessions, the shared Physical Activity Lab provides a dynamic space utilized among the Physical Activity and Behavioral Sciences Faculty.
