MEET OUR TEAM

Lab Director

Dr. Jeni Green is an Assistant Professor of Physical Activity and Behavioral Sciences at San Diego State University. She received a PhD in Exercise and Nutritional Sciences from Arizona State University in 2019. Dr. Green also has experience working in and collaborating with digital health industries in her former roles as a postdoc at Calm and Behavior Scientist at Johnson and Johnson. She has over 10 years of experience conducting research across various areas including the development and implementation of mind-body and physical activity interventions, assessing physical and mental health outcomes, reducing racial and ethnic health disparities, women’s health, and digital health. Dr. Green is a highly collaborative researcher and has partners across the digital health industry, community, and healthcare systems. Not only is Dr. Green a dedicated researcher but she passionate about mentoring and teaching students. In her free time she enjoys running, yoga, snuggling her dogs, and going to the beach with her 2 daughters and husband.

Research Staff

Destiny Akins

Destiny is a first year graduate student studying Nutritional Sciences. She plans on becoming a Registered Dietician where she can work to disseminate knowledge in the field of foods and nutrition in marginalized communities.

Kaylee Childers

Kaylee is a pre-med student studying Food and Nutrition with the dream of some day becoming an OBGYN doctor. She is committed to make healthcare a more inclusive space where everyone receives quality care.

Olivia Harris

Olivia is a fourth-year SDSU student pursuing a B.S. in Kinesiology-Pre Physical Therapy. She plans to attend medical school to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology and conduct research on maternal mortality.

Zamira Smith

Zamira is a fifth-year public health major at San Diego State University. After graduation, she plans on working as a policy worker where she would like to address maternal health for women of color.
