Mindful Maternity

This study is testing if a prenatal yoga app can work well for African American/Black pregnant women. It aims to find out if the app is easy to use, can help mental and physical health, and if any cultural adaptations are needed. The study lasts for 12 weeks and participants are asked to do prenatal yoga with the app at home. Participants will also be asked to wear a wrist worn fitness monitor watch to keep track of their activity and any heart rate changes.

Weight Stigma

Collaborating with researchers from the University of South Alabama (USA), the University of Iowa, and the University of Arizona, we are conducting interviews in breast cancer patients. We aim to explore experiences of weight stigma in cancer care across screening, diagnosis/treatment, and survivorship and how these experiences impact medical decision-making and patient-provider interactions.

Implicit Bias and Prenatal Health Care

We are disseminating a survey targeting prenatal healthcare providers with the objective of quantifying implicit racial bias. The study also aims to explore strategies to reduce racial bias in prenatal healthcare settings and enhance patient-provider communication.
